What this cluster makes
Tiruppur is the country's knitwear capital and one of the few Tamil Nadu clusters that is globally, not nationally, benchmarked. It is a cluster of thousands of small units, not a few large ones — which makes it resilient to any single closure and acutely exposed to the price of cotton, the value of the rupee and the environmental compliance regime on its dye houses.

Value shown is announced ₹, narrowing as commitments progress. The announced-to-deployed discount is 60–80% C and is applied to every headline figure on this platform.
Workforce and skills
A large migrant workforce from further south and from other states; skills are deep but informal, and formal certification is thin.
The constraint
The zero-liquid-discharge mandate on dye houses is the defining constraint — it raises unit costs, and periodic enforcement actions close capacity without warning. Water recycling cost is now a material line item that no promotional figure carries.
This is the section a promotion agency cannot write. An evidence institution must — and that asymmetry is the entire licence to operate.
Method and sources
Every figure on this page carries its own confidence tag and as-at date. Firm counts derive from the MCA GODL layer with Arivu curation; output and employment are structured from the DES Annual Survey; commitments are traced from public releases and company filings, with the 60–80% announced-to-deployed discount applied. All figures on this preview are illustrative.
Announced to date: ₹2,100 crore across 1 tracked commitments.
